Wandered Off Track

Sam kicked at the leaves under foot as he wandered back in the general direction of the motel. He wasn't in any great hurry to return to his brother. The air carried the acrid scent of bonfire and he could still taste the faintest hint of sulfur on his lips.
His insides twisted and he burned with shame. What am I doing? It had all seemed so... righteous when it had only been about revenge. Then Dean came back.
He stared into the night. He knew what was out there.
Dean had called him a freak. No, I'm a monster.
