"Rose Tyler, I –" The Doctor's image flickered and disappeared.
Rose squeezed her eyes shut as tears flowed out of her eyes, smearing her mascara.
One tear rolled down the Doctor's cheek and he ran to the TARDIS console, flipping a switch. He reappeared in front of the blonde woman he loved.
"love you."
Rose froze, blinking.
"D-Doctor?" she asked.
The Doctor looked just as surprised as Rose, but he shook himself out of his stupor.
"Rose Tyler, I love you."
Rose stepped toward the hologram of the Doctor and lifted up a hand to touch his cheek, but her pale hand passed right through his face.
"I love you too," she replied, letting the tears roll down her cheeks.
"Look. Sometime soon something big will happen, and you've got to be ready. I won't stop until I find you again."
Rose let a smile find her lips.
"Goodbye, Doctor. I will see you soon."
The Doctor gave Rose that brilliant smile as his image faded. Rose let the tears stream down her face, let Mickey and her father and mother comfort her, but secretly she was a bit happy.
The Doctor was coming back for her.
