Riza always knew he got worried, and his response for that was to call her at ungodly hours of the evening, or morning, all depended on what he was so worried about. This particular morning it was 3AM, and he was in Aerugo to meet with some officials concerning Amestris's foreign relations. Riza had to stay home to take care of their child, Maes, seeing as it would have been disrespectful to the other leaders. Since Roy was Fuhrer, business tended to keep him away from home a lot. So those ungodly worried calls always made Riza smile. She liked to hear his voice. This morning, he was worried about if Riza was safe there alone in Central City.
"Roy, you sound tired. You should rest." Riza sighed, she was sitting on the couch, wearing cozy pajamas, a steaming cup of tea in her lap, a book to her side. She liked reading late into the night with a nice cup of tea. "Don't you have another meeting tomorrow?"
"...These hours are the only times I can check on you." Roys tone, muffled slightly by the telephone obviously held hints of major exhaustion, and sounded wrung out. Riza knew he hated those meetings with those stuffy old men with stick up their asses as much as she hated it when he slacked off. "...How are you and Maes doing…?"
Riza chuckled, speaking with a light normality, as if he were sitting right next to her, asking her these things while reading the back of the novel she was currently reading. "Well,it seems he's inherited you inability to work. His teacher sent a note home, complaining about the lack of homework being turned in. Naturally he got a little bit of a talking to," She chuckled once more, and she heard him let out a little amused chuckle as well.
"Where's the bullet hole at, this time?" He asked lightly.
"Right over his bed. To remind him.~" Riza took a sip of her tea as her voice adopted a smug tone.
Roy yawned on the other side of the line and Riza smiled to herself. "Roy, go to sleep. We can talk some more after the meeting tomorrow."
Roy let out an exhausted sigh in defeat. "Alright. I love you."
"Love you too, sweet dreams."
And with that, Riza hung up and picked up her book, where she sat and read until the ungodly hours were over.
