Nightfall
As Independents manned their posts,
In bunkers underground.
Alliance skiffs flew ahead,
While dropships did touch down.
...
The Independents took their posts,
As if acting with one mind.
For their enemies had come this night,
To 'civilize' mankind.
...
Men and women, even teens,
Manned their places on the line.
Prayers were said and bets were made,
While waiting for the sign.
...
Purblebellies stood in awe,
As fury was displayed.
This was a world of true freedom,
Its defenders not afraid.
...
But supported from on high,
Forward went the Alliance throng.
Bullets missiles, pools of blood,
Such is death's dark song.
...
There was no glory in the body,
Of that which is not peace.
Such was mankind's primal fury,
Which at times is released.
