An Unexpected Umbreon
Gary was a little surprised when his Eevee evolved into an Umbreon. He'd looked into evolution stones, showing the Eevee pictures and discussing with him so the pokemon didn't feel forced into any sort of evolution. And they'd settled on a thunderstone and Jolteon and Gary had gone to wondering if he should ask Ash for his one (considering his Pikachu would never use it – although that involved actually asking Ash), ask Professor Oak for his help or just try his luck on the market some more.
And then one night, the night after Gary found a thunderstone offered for a hefty price on the trainer's market, his Eevee evolved – into an Umbreon. Gary hadn't even considered that possibility or the morning sun, the Espeon. So he was surprised – though happy, since the evolution was a testament of the friendship and care he'd raised his Eevee with. And that's how he tried to raise all his Pokemon.
