Alright just a little something I've been cooking up in my spare time, already have a few chapters lined up, so it shouldn't effect the writing of my other story, hope you like it!
All this time he had tried to keep his feelings to himself. Not wanting to put her in that position, or to make things weird.
But he had gone off and told Lindsay how he felt about her and not just that he had feelings for her, but strong ones at that. And then the worst possible thing that could happen, happened. It had been too much too fast, and she got scared, and begun avoiding him.
Thinking to herself that it wasn't that obvious, but to everyone else, Danny included, it was painfully obvious that something had gone down between them. He wanted more than anything to take it back, to rewind time and swallow his words.
For just one more of her smiles toward him, or one mroe late night of processing evidence.
Now they were in Mac's office awaiting their assignments for the day.
"Okay Stella, I want you and Hawkes at the scene, Flack you're with me in interrogation, Adam is already working on the clothes, which leaves Danny and Lindsay. I want you two to start processing fingerprints lifted from Turner's doorknobs."
Danny stood stock still, only once daring a glance in Lindsay's direction, her expression was a cross between shock and fear. She snapped out of the trance that she sometimes goes into when thinking about something hard when she realized Danny was watching her.
Glancing up at him, she gave a weak smile, as she turned to leave the room.
As soon as she was out of sight, Danny took off down the hall hoping to catch Mac before he went into interrogation.
"Mac, there you are!"
"Here I am, what can I do for you?" He asked eyeing the young C.S.I up and down.
"Why did you put me and Lindsay on the same shift? Don't tell me you haven't noticed that...thing between us lately?" Danny asked, hoping that it had just been an accident, and the mistake would be rectified immediately. But sadly he knew better.
"No, I've noticed the tension."
"So why would you put us together? As some kind of sick joke or something, because if that's the case, it's not funny Mac."
"I didn't do it as a joke Danny, you teo are partners, and I won't have somethign come between you two. You have to trust her completely, and talking it out, and spending sometime other than avoiding each other will help patch things up."
Danny groaned inwardly, horrified by the news, "No, no, no Mac, you don't get it. This is how we patch things up. We avoid each other for a few weeks, and then one person, normally the one who screwed up, will go to the other, and test the waters with a joke or something. If they tell you to piss off, then they're still mad, if not, then we go back to business as usual. Now spending time together, might screw things up worse then they already are."
Although, he didn't really think things could get any worse, it made him feel better to be able to pass the blame.
"Why Mac? Why would interfere like that?"
Mac looked at Danny sympathetically, "Dan, you will have to patch things up sooner or later, and it's better to get it out now, rather than let it build."
Danny stood in utter amazement, Mac was actually giving him advice on a woman no less, that seemed to make at least a little sense.
But Danny was too much of a prideful New Yorker to let Mac know that. So he simply replied.
"You sound like an after school program, you know that?"
Ignoring the quip, Mac turned and walked into the interrogation room.

Danny walked slowly back to the lab, all along the way trying to figure out a way to avoid her eyes, if he couldn't avoid her psychically, then he would have to fin a way to avoid her deep chocolate eyes.
That he missed being able to look into when ever he wished.
When he finally reached the lab, he saw her, she was at the computer with her back to him, already processing some prints.
Avoid those eyes, that's all you've got to do for a few more hours, is avoid those eyes.
He came up behind her, and asked if she had found any matches yet.
"Only one, someone named Janice Turner, the rest have all been the vic's."
"Janice is his daughter I met her at the scene, she was the one who called 911."
All of the sudden a huge wave of jealously washed over Lindsay.
He probably started flirting with her, batting those electric blue eyes of his, and messing with his beautiful blond hair, just like every other one night stand he's ever had.
She started to scowl at him, but quickly stopped herself.
Wait a minute, since when do I care who Danny flirts with? It's not like I have any say in the matter.
She realized now that Danny was still talking about the case, and she did her best to listen, but was still detached, as well as confused, as to why she would be jealous.
"...She said she was in town for her father's sake, something about him just having a heart attack, and she was worried about him sweet girl too, pretty red hair..."
That seemed to push Lindsay off a nasty edge, "Alright she's gorgeous I get it, will you drop it already and give me some room to breathe."
Confused. He looked down at the space between them, granted they were fairly close, but taking into account that on occasion he had been much closer, without her breathing a word of protest, it seemed rather unnecessary.
She shook her head softly mumbling, "Never mind." In his direction, and stormed out of the room, making her way to the locker room, leaving a stunned and confused Danny in her wake.
