John opened the black, velvet bag revealing a large amount of diamonds which he promptly took one of the beautiful gems from the batch, holding it out to the robot girl standing beside him.
"This is for you, Cameron," said John as he shyly placed the jewel in her out stretched hand.
She rolled the it between her forefinger and thumb watching it sparkle in the kitchen light before she spoke. She was curious as to why John would give her such a valuable thing in human terms.
" Why did you give this to me?"
" Because," replied John smiling. " Diamonds are a girl's best friend."
" What does that mean? Explain."
John thought of the right words to say to a robot who could not even comprehend the the excitement a woman felt when a man gave such special trinket.
" It means... when a man gives one to a woman, he likes her alot."
" So it means she is liked and trusted?"
" Yea, something like that
Cameron held the diamond up to eye level as if thinking about what John had told her. To John, Cameron looked puzzled by the conversation. He had given the diamond to her because she had been the first female he warmed up to outside home. After a minute Cameron spoke again.
" This is a type of reward for protecting you?"
" In a way... for being there for me and letting me not get killed."
" And this means you trust me?"
" Yes," said John looking down awkwardly at the kitchen table.
Cameron's next move took John completely off guard when she moved closer, throwing her arms around his neck. She whispered in his ear, " Thank you for trusting me with your life, John. I won't forget this."
She let go returning to her emotionless self and left the kitchen. John still reeling from the close contact, sat down in a neraby chair to gather his thoughts. In a way he chided himself for having these types of feelings for someone who wasn't even human. No matter how he tried to deny it, no matter how unnatural it seemed, John Connor loved Cameron.
