She blinks at him in confusion, taking in the disheveled clothes and hair and the worried but proud look on his face, his arms outstretched and holding a medium sized plain white box that had been quickly and hastily tied with a silk yellow ribbon.
"Thank-you...?"
Her voice trails off, confusion evident even as she gives him a grateful smile, taking the girt and opening it carefully, having taken a special liking to silk ribbon. Her smile brightens at the sight of a thick leather tome (Muggle and Magical Interactions: Through the 1900's) and the crisp, newspaper like print bookmark that lay on top of it. Squealing, she hugs him, kissing his cheeks enthusiastically. This is the book she had been eying for a month! He had remembered...but why did he buy it?
"H-Happy anniversary."
He smiles, looking relived at her reaction and Hermione cracks an amused smile. He thought he had almost forgotten their anniversary, again.
She smiles at him gently, amused.
"Ron, love, thank you for the gift, I loved it...but our anniversary is February 15th. It's January 31st."
He flushes, gapping while she giggles, kissing his cheek again, slipping the silk yellow ribbon that had caught her eye into her hair before taking his hand, leading him towards the door, her smile never leaving her face.
"But since you've already gotten it, I suppose we can celebrate a little early this year."
She laughs, her voice like tinkering bells and Ron just gazes on, dazed and entranced. As follows, unsure whether or not he should throttle Harry and the twins for their joke (or thank them because he actually remembered to celebrate their anniversary this year) Ron smiles, wrapping an arm around his wife's waist, grinning at the sight of the gentle bulge that singled her pregnancy to their fourth child.
He decides to let it slid, but only this time.
