Chapter One
It was anotherone of these days. School was as boring as ever. Teachers standing in front of the class, talking and talking. Why did he even attend class at all? What meaning had these thousands lessons of the history of long dead people or the other stuff the teachers kept going on about. Other students would probably describe him as rebellious, uncaring and quickly frustrated. However, he didn't interact with others unless he had to. They just bothered him. The part-time job didn't make the day any better. There were almost no customers at all. When he finally was on his way home he thought think about what he should eat for dinner. "Man, this day really hits an all-time low", Yoshiki Kishinuma muttered to himself. But then he suddenly saw her, sitting on top of a few stairs in front of a small house. 'She' was a small girl about 16 or 17 years old. She wore a green shirt, her dark blue hair was tied into two ponytails. A red blanket covered her legs. In her lap, on top of the blanket, he could see a thick book. One of her eyes was covered by an eye patch, one of these things you use to cover an injured eye. The other eye he could see had a hazy dark blue color, like her hair. Despite the fact that her eye was directed at him, he didn't get the feeling she was really looking at him. As if pulled by a strange force, he moved a little towards her. She didn't react at all. She tried to slip forward, a little closer to the edge of the step. But because of the sudden movement, the book fell down. It fell surprisingly far, considering how heavy the book looked. Yoshiki would have expected her to get up and retrieve it, but the girl dropped herself to the knees, carefully crawled down the last three steps while searching with her fingers for the book. Later, he really couldn't tell anymore why he did what he did then. With about four large steps he reached the book, picked it up and held it in her direction. "This is whatcha looking for, right?" She looked up to him. With her hands she crawled towards him, then she reached out her hands, but not in the exact direction of her precious possession. "Can't she see it?", he wondered. "Could it be...that she is...blind?" He carefully put it into her hands. She tucked it under her arm and started to crawl back. Yoshiki noticed that her hands were already pretty sore and decided he couldn't stand there watching. "Hey", he called out ,"can't you get up?" She stared at him for a moment with her hazy gaze. "No." That was all she said. She wanted to continue her way, but Yoshiki was already at her side and lifted her up. "Geez, I can't stand this!" She didn't complain as he carried her, up tha stairs and to the door, that was open. Despite feeling like a criminal, he slowly entered the house. Before him was a long floor with many doors on each sides. "Left." Surprised he looked down to the girl in his arms. "My room is the first left." So he carried her into that room. It was a small room without much furniture. He could see a closet, a desk, a bed, a little cabinet, and an empty bookshelf. Yoshiki put her down on the bed and turned around to leave. From that point on she should be able to handle this herself. Putting bandages around her hands and stuff like that really wasn't his job. Hell, he didn't even know that girl! Before he left he decided to take a peek at the nameplate. "Shinozaki", he read out loud
