A/N: My first fanfic! Finally! After, what, six months of "I'll make an account tomorrow!" I finally did it! Procrastination sucks……
Anyway, read and review!
A Day in the Life
We had just gotten back home today. After what was it, two years? We were finally all back together. And even then, it was a close call. I almost came home without Sora or Riku again, just like a year ago. But this time they came back, through the "door to light" as Sora called it. After a moment of hesitation, most likely because I figured my mom would blow up at me, I knocked on the door to my house.
"I'm coming, just a minute!"
The door creaked open "Whatever you're selling…"
"I'm home"
I expected to be grounded for life. I mean, sure, my parents loved me, but I wasn't they're REAL daughter, and I never expected my mom to break down crying. She threw her arms around me, and I returned the hug.
"Don't worry. This time I'm not leaving again."
This was a promise that I truly hoped to keep. But after the reunion and a quick microwave dinner of leftovers (so stereotypical in my house…), I went straight to bed. After all I'd been through, didn't I deserve a little rest? Just a little? I hadn't slept in a halfway decent bed in a few months, and so I fells asleep in practically seconds. But after what felt like minutes of sleep, I was jolted awake by a voice.
"Hey Kairi!"
"GAH!!!! Who's there?!" I was so startled that I screamed at the top of my lungs and fell onto the floor. I was amazed that my parents didn't hear it. I always knew they were heavy sleepers. The voice now burst out laughing.
"Wow" it gasped between laughs "I –didn't think –you'd be -that surprised!"
"Who is it? This isn't funny!" I summoned the keyblade Riku had given me, just in case.
"Come on, I'm stuck inside your head. Do you think I'm going to be able to hurt you?"
"Stuck inside my…wha?"
"Come on, guess. And no, I'm not your conscience"
"Okay, I give up. Tell me, NOW!"
"Come on, Kai, you met me today, I'm a part of you, and you can't even recognize my voice? Thanks a lot!"
"Enough with the- part of me?? Namine?"
"Good job!" A translucent form appeared next to me, one that I recognized as my Nobody. I put the keyblade away. "Don't scare me like that! It's not funny!"
"I thought you would recognize my voice, but apparently not. I just wanted to let you know that I'm still here, so, you know, try not to ignore me." And with that, she vanished, back into my body.
"Oh, and by the way, you should probably let your parents at least know that I exist. Cause, you know, you'll end up in some asylum if people think you're talking to yourself and hearing voices."
"Very funny. I'm perfectly sane, thank you." I said, with a fake pout on my face. "Now can I-we- get some sleep?"
"Sure, you'll need it. You've got school tomorrow."
School?! Oh no, I didn't want to go back to school, not the day after I got back! Apparently Namine could hear my thoughts, too, because she started laughing hysterically.
"You know, I could always tell my parents about you and have them put YOU in school too!"
The laughing ceased. "NOOO! You wouldn't do that! Please no!"
"It was a joke, Nami, now lets get some rest."
Annnnddd that's chapter 1! There are only going to be 2, at most 3 chapters, and hopefully I'll get them all up in two weeks or so. Also, the document uploader wouldn't upload .doc or .rtf files for some reason. i uploaded a blank .htm document and copy/pasted this *facepalm*.
Once again, R&R! Thanks!

P.S. The title will become more clear next chapter. I just read in the context of the story and it doesn't make sense. Yet. But it will...
