Ribbon in the Sky.
...
The stars twinkled while comets soared pass the thriving planets. All of them drifted along the pitch black vastness in their own graceful rhythms. Peace and love radiated from Ripple Star all over again like the heat of a furnace with the Great Crystal back in it's place safe and sound.
Ribbon fluttered her wings as she watches the beautiful nighttime skies outside from the castle window. "Darkness had it's place as much as light." She thought. Today was a crazy yet a fun adventure. It took a lot of struggling after finding all the crystal shards but she finally did it. And it didn't come without a price to pay. And it's all thanks to him.
Ribbon shifted her blue eyes and smiled at the sleeping form of the pink child with a crystal necklace around his neck. Her planet would've been taken over by Zero 2's darkness and all the love and happiness would be done for if she didn't crash to Pop star. They were able to save their friends from Dark Matter's possession, travel through every planet where the shards have fallen, and now here they are, having Ripple Star restored with all it's glory. The fairies all returned to their homes as the queen welcome Kirby and his friends to sleep in for the night. She lets Kirby bunk into her bedroom.
The pink haired pixie then reminds herself that not everyone has a happy ending. The queen explained to Kirby and Ribbon about how she felt for Zero when she was possessed. Plus Zero's endless misery was never part of the queen's wish when she wanted everyone to be happy. Some things can turn out different than what she had planned.
Sure, Zero does have great attempt to destroy Kirby and going after the Great Crystal to destroy the source of positive emotions, but he's just a misunderstood being who is suffering endless depression and misery all his life like an emo would. All he wanted was to feel happy too but everything he tries is no use. And yet seeing everyone with positive emotions has made him green with envy even more. Happiness should be a beautiful experience. Why would it be such an opposite?
"And that's why he wanted to take away our happiness." Ribbon whispered to herself. She couldn't image herself going through that experience for weeks...months...or even years! Never been able to experience the thrill of holding someone's hand, eating ice-cream with a friend, or laughing at a funny joke. Zero has abandoned all those desiring thoughts when thinking that nobody should have the right to be happy if he can't. She has great pity for the creator of Dark matter much like Kirby does. It was a battle that they'll never forget or be proud of and that it could haunt them for the rest of their existence. Everything always had prejudices against him. It wasn't fair. It must be hell to live in a curse of despair. Neither both the Love-love stick and the Great Crystal can make a change of it. Zero is made of hatred and sorrow.
"Maybe now he'll rest in peace after being tormented for so long." Ribbon sighed with thought of hope.
She returned her attention to Kirby.
"Just to think that all hope is lost and he was able to stand by me." The pink fairy thought. "I never felt so lucky to have a friend like him."
Kirby is all tuckered out since after the feast of the ceremony. She couldn't help but admire how cute the pink puffball is. She quietly giggled to herself when she thought of the 'peck on a cheek' incident followed by Kirby tumbling down the stairs. She blushed over that thought. The fairy was glad to spend one more night with the hero of Popstar before he and his friends had to go back. She wish she could tell him how much she really feel for him.
How about now?
This could be her chance.
Yes.
"No I can't...," Ribbon whispered to herself.
"Yes you can." Her conscience argued with her.
"But he needs his sleep. He's got a long journey tomorrow. I don't wanna wake him up." She whispered.
"But what if you guys won't see each other anymore?" Her conscience asked.
"I...I don't know...," The fairy looked down while twisting her hair with her index finger.
"Exactly. Plus, you know you can't hide your feelings for him."
"What feelings? It was just a small peck on his cheek?" Ribbon felt her heart pounding while she darted her eyes to her left and right.
"Uh-huh. Don't be a fool. And besides we both know that you're just denying it."
Ribbon sighed as her heart keeps beating. What's the use?
"Okay I admit." She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "I...I do love Kirby. I really do. Even though when we just met back on Pop Star. He's like a special person who I can ever ask for and I wish that we can be together a lot more. There I said it. You happy now?" If anyone hears Ribbon, they would think she's just talking to herself like a crazy person. But thank goodness everyone is asleep.
"Mmm...not quite. If you do love Kirby then you'll have to prove it with action."
"What? Now? I can't. Not in his sleep."
"Oh well. If you're too scared to do it then you'll just miss out your chance and-"
"Fine." Ribbon gave out an annoyed sigh. Secretly she wanted to do it so badly.
She approaches herself towards the sleeping puffball while her cheeks flushed more redder. "Here it goes." She whispered.
She lean her face in but throws it back.
"Try again."
She leans her face a little more but still didn't made contact to Kirby's face before she retreats.
"Stop being a coward."
Ribbon groaned irritated before she tries again once more. This time she hesitated. Should she really do this? She did it once but the fairy wasn't sure if this could be necessary to-
Smooch.
She felt warmth connecting her lips. Her eyes winded in surprise. She didn't hear Kirby snoring since he made his move towards the fairy's face. He soon broke the kiss and open his sapphire blue eyes with a smile.
"I love you too Ribbon." He whispered.
Ribbon gave out a short audible gasp as her face flushed. Had he been awake all along? "Ho-how much did you hear?"
"Quite a bit, poyo." Kirby answered.
They both stared at each other all speechless, waiting for one another to say something. But Ribbon feels like she don't need to say anything as she fluttered herself on the bed beside Kirby.
"So...when we'll we see each other, poyo?" Kirby asked.
"Anytime sweetheart. Anytime." Ribbon giggled.
Kirby blushed at what the fairy called him before he chuckled. He then kissed her cheek before they laid down on the mattress, cuddling each other.
"Goodnight Ribbon. I love you, poyo."
"I love you too Kirby."
The End!
Ah, they say that love is a crazy thing...which most find it all time adorable. I do like Kirby and Ribbon being together and that they do have feelings for each other which the good ending of Kirby 64: The crystal shards proved it all. So take care readers, and happy early Valentine's day! 💖💕💘💝
And good night! 😍
