Allure & Subtlety

Not too much or it will leave a bad impression, but just enough so that once detected – it's forever in their memory. Its allure comes from subtlety.

But that's not how it came to her, well not at first (one could define 'subtlety' here). It was imprinted in the back of her mind. When it came up again, she was left curious and frustrated. It was all too familiar, but so distant. She felt as if her memory was wiped clear except for this – that scent. The scent that made her feel safe, relaxed, and at ease. It made her heart speed up and slow down its rhythm.

Now she smiles because she remembers what that scent is. Images of ruffled bed sheets, silvery-blonde hair, legs intertwined, and the azure of those eyes running through her mind. Yes, this made her smile. One of those goofy smiles because only she knows what's making her do so. It was Fleur – the perfume she wears that Hermione has grown to love so much.

Weeks ago, she would wonder why something to small would make her feel so much emotion. She came to her senses and realized that it was something new. She would no longer fight it seeing that there was no use in trying to rid her head of incessant thoughts because everything she saw would remind her of Fleur.

As she continued walking past that store in the mall, she inhaled deeply – welcoming the scent of a flower, her Fleur. It's amazing how the mind could remember things that one could fail to take notice. But that's how subtlety works, one whiff and a person doesn't even realize the impact it makes.
