~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~ "Oy! We're getting off!!" I pulled my blue hat down over my eyes and slowly walked off the ship. Still being able to see, I looked at my surroundings. A beach. My feet sank into the sand and grasses grew around me. I had just walked off the creaky dock. Now I was here, and I wasn't leaving. My parents had died in a car crash a few weeks ago. I didn't care. My parents hadn't cared a thing about me. They never went to my college graduation. I had skipped a few grades, so I got out at age 21. So why did I bother going to their funeral? I didn't. I was on the next boat to Mineral Village, to live with my grandpa. My grandpa was one of those relatives that you didn't see often. The last time I had come here was when I was three. So I didn't remember anything about it. Now that I thought about it, where did my grandpa live? I had no time to ponder this. First, I had to find a place to live. I searched around town until I found a large, two-story building. A sign outside it said "Inn. Open 8:00 to 21:00." That's kind of strange. Oh well, it's an inn. So I pushed open the heavy wooden doors and found myself in a cozy eating area. Round tables with checkered table clothes were set in areas. Some had people sitting at them, sipping from water or alcohol. A man with red hair, darker than mine, was behind the counter, by the cash register. I walked up to him and said in a soft voice. "Excuse me, but do you have a room I could stay in? I'm working with my grandfather Saibara." The man smiled and answered. "Well, we don't have an empty room; but you could stay with one of the other newcomers. He's a shy boy. Maybe you could be his first friend!" A frown almost formed on my face at the beginning of that statement. At the end I stopped. A friend would be nice. "Yes," I said, "that would be fine." The man scribbled down my name and what room I would be staying in. "Have a good time." He told me politely. I knew that was a phrase he probably had to memorize. I nodded and went up the stairs quickly and found my room. As I opened the door, I did not know the person in the room would change my life. ~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~ !~!~!~!~ Do you like it? Just review!
