It was not love or lust that had drove them to one another, it was loneliness. Forgotten by the world, abandoned by their summoners, they were the only ones who could understand the other's pain.
Tidus felt a little more real with every brush of his skin against Shuyin's skin. No longer did he feel like the fallen hero out of some child's storybook. Under Shuyin's touch, he felt more alive than he had when he had actually been living.
To Shuyin, every touch, every kiss, every strangled moan drawn from Tidus's lips felt like a small revenge against Lenne, whom he had sacrificed everything for, but had gone back to her precious other summoner, Tidus's summoner, the instant he had been safely contained behind the walls of the Farplane. Until he had met Tidus, he had felt like the classical defeated villain, left alone and forgotten after everything had been said and done. After a thousand years of undeath, he no longer remembered what it felt like to be alive, but above Tidus, he felt like he could almost imagine.
It had been loneliness that had drove them to one another, but it had been fate that bound them together.
