time of day: in which percy is the sea, and annabeth is the light in the dark within him
gentle waves caress the pearl white sand
a tranquil aquamarine sea
clear water and the scent of salt
happy laughs and families
morning
sun reaches the center of the sky
warm rays beat down on the sea
fewer people in the water, but still
they linger on the shores
midday
clouds begin to veil the sun
families pack up, start to leave
waves are closer together, crashing into shore
afternoon
crashing waves and quaking Earth
see the water froth and bubble
churning sea, midnight waters
destroying sand castles on the beach
watch the waves seek and destroy
happiness, childhood, and that which causes pain
evening
the gentle moon reflects on the
quivering sea
her gentle touch calms the storm
the waters begin to calm, until only
the occasional wave laps against the sand
nighttime
he was innocent, but was forced
to grow up too quickly
he watched friends fall to the crows
pain and loss and suffering
misery and grief and scars
and at 16, almost 17
he reached his limit
but he always had a light nearby
to sooth and calm him
the pain will never be forgotten
but he has learned to
handle it and
not to lift the weight of the world
on his shoulders alone
