Garrus was on the Normandy's bridge when the crucible had gone off. It had taked the Turrian everything he had not to tell joker to turn the ship around when the Citadel had started to explode.
Now the Normandy was in orbit of an uncharted planet with no contact with the fleet.
"Garrus." Spoke Specialist Traynor snapping from his trance. It took him a moment to remember what he was doing, he was holding Shepard's memorial plaque. Traynor placed her soft, human hand on his shoulder. "It's time. We all saw the citadel blow up."
He nodded and held the plaque in both his talons. He slowly walked towards the memorial wall where Admiral Anderson's name already hung. He hovered the plaque a centimeter above the wall, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. He yanked Shepard's name back into his hands and stormed back into the elevator, while the crew stared at him.
He was more mad at himself for getting attached to somebody than at anything. "You just had to go and do it you're self, Shepard!" He screamed as he pounded the elevator wall. He knew she wasn't dead, he had watched the first Normandy explode during the first Collector attack, and yet she still had found a way to survive.
The elevator stopped at the CIC. Garrus waited a moment to collect his thoughts before he opened the door. When he had finally calmed down enough he stepped outside.
He made his way to the strategic center at the aft section of the deck. The Turian watched the hologram of the crucible spin in the center of the room. All their hard work, their sacrifices, it had worked, but at what cost. He didn't know what had happened to Shepard, the woman that he had followed to hell and back, the one he loved was not there with him. The victory over the reapers felt bitter sweet, so many had died during the war.
Kaiden entered the room quietly. He braced himself against the metal railing. "Rough day huh?" He spoke softly. Garrus didn't speak. "Why don't you come down to the lounge with me, everybody is drinking. They want you to make a toast to Shepard."
Garrus flared his mandibles warning the human that he was treading on very thin ice. "Maybe later."
"Garrus, we know what you're going through, but you need to let us help you."
"I said later!" Snapped the Turian.
"I'm doing this to help you Garrus!" Retaliated the human biotic. "Adams has gotten the FTL drive working, we'll be departing for Earth as soon as we clear orbit and here you are sulking, while your friends are a deck down worrying about you!"
Garrus pounded the railing. "Do you even know who we lost back there Kaiden! Shepard was on the citadel when it exploded, and you want me to relax!"
The human Major understood what Garrus was saying. He had known Shepard for almost four years, he respected the woman and even though he didn't always agree with her, he saw her as a friend. "Garrus." Kaiden tried to calm himself down. "She was my friend too, you have to let yourself calm down though, we don't know she's dead." Garrus rolled his black eyes. "I promise, we'll get back to the citadel and she'll be waiting for us at the airlock."
Garrus ground his sharp teeth. "You're right." He growled as he forced his way past Kaiden and out the door.
An/ sorry that its not very long but I had promised my friend I'd have this done yesterday. There will be more, please review.
