This is before Austin and Ally meet... You'll understand after you read

All her life Ally has been expected to be perfect, perfect hair, perfect clothes, perfect everything! She needs one thing to not be perfect so this is why she does it. It is her only escape. So this is why she is sitting in her room... blade in hand... One, two, three, four cuts on her wrist and she feels at ease. But she would never tell anyone about this secret oh no she just can't be not perfect to anyone and besides she doesn't trust anyone enough not even Trish so this will stay a secret after all not everyone can be perfect.

All his life Austin is expected to be great, great at sports, great at music, great with people, great with everything! All this greatness gets hard when no one understands. So that's why he does it. That's why he is sitting at the park... lighter in his hand... one, two, three, four burns on his arm. He needs to know not everything about him is great. He needs control over something, so this is what he does. But he would never tell anyone his secret it's not that he doesn't trust them it's just he doesn't want to be looked at as less great. So he tells no-one not even Dez. Cause after all we can't all be great.

The first time she sees him she knows she is in love but she can't go after him. Want to know why? All this perfect-ness is in the way the part of her being perfect and the other part of her not being perfect her cutting part. Plus he would never love her. Oh no no-one loves little miss perfect Ally Dawson.

The first time he see her he fell hard and he knows it. But he can't go after her. Know why? Everything about her radiates perfection and he is just great. She is out of his league. He is a loser who burns himself and she is a goddess who probably would hate him for it. She would never love him. No-one loves the great Austin Moon.

The first time she gets asked out is by him and she loves every second of it. Their first kiss was magical and she knows she loves him even more now. She debates whether or not to tell him about her problem but she keeps it a secret. She NEEDS this secret.

The first time he asked her out he feels like throwing up but he keeps his cool and she says yes. Their first kiss would be described as enchanting. He thinks he should tell her about it but he can't. He needs to keep this as a secret for now.

She is now married to him and she still cuts. She can't tell him she just needs to do this to get rid of stress. Why would she tell him anyways? No-one likes a wife with cuts.

He is married to her and he still burns himself. He would never tell her oh no what would she think of him? Would she send him away somewhere? He can't handle that so he doesn't tell. Besides... who like a husband with burns?

They die with it. Him with his burns and her with her cuts. They never told anyone not even each other. They never got help. For her there was no-one to trust. For him well he didn't want anyone to pity him. They die with their secrets. Never to be told to the world. Never to see daylight. Secrets do better hiding in the shadows anyways. Secrets are better when it's just you that knows it. And as he is burning for the last time on his old wrinkled skin and she is cutting her's they both realize this is more than a secret. It is an addiction that will never be cured.
