Chapter 1 / prologue

AN: This is taken place after City of Lost Soul but City of Heavenly Fire didn't happen :)

One hundred and fifty years ago, Jace and Clary fell in love. About a year later, Clary figured out she could create new runes. After being together for three years the pair got married, with a special little twist, Clary came up with a rune just for them.

This new rune meant that the pair were immortal; forever young. The only way to kill one of them would be to do it for the other.

Both Jace and Clary thought it was a little pointless at first, knowing that neither could actually die, but it was harder than you might think.

And sure enough after being together for ninety years, Clary was killed when she died for Jace even though she knew it wouldn't kill him, she couldn't watch him get hurt.

So now, it was almost sixty years after Clary's death, Jace still needed to find a new love to share his mark with, for it was as much a curse as it was a gift. But, by this point Jace was more or less over Clary.

In the mean time, when Magnus and Alec finally sorted out their differences, the pair decided to grow old together. So Magnus allowed his body to grow old with Alec's, until the Shadow Hunter died.

Now in the present day, their loved ones gone after one hundred and fifty years since they first met, Magnus and Jace are the only ones left, both single and both still friends.
