A quiet groan escaped Emily Nelson's lips as the sound of her ringtone from her cell phone blared loudly throughout the quiet morning air of Emily's bedroom, causing her to awaken from her slumber. The clock sat on her bedside table read 7:21 am, and Emily groaned once again, upset with the fact that she was woken up on the only day she was able to sleep in for a few hours. Before the ringing stopped, Emily quickly reached over to yank her phone off of her nightstand and accepted the call, without looking at the caller id.

"Hello?" She answered, her voice groggy and laced with sleep.

"Good morning, Dr. Nelson. It seems that I've woken you up, and I apologize for that. This is Sharon Goodwin, calling from Gaffney Chicago Medical Center."

"Hello Miss Goodwin, what can I do for you?" Emily responded as she bolted upright in bed, much more awake and alert once she realized that this was the woman who she had a job interview with a week prior, potentially offering her the job as an ER doctor at Chicago Med.

"Well, I am calling to let you know that you've been hired here to work at Chicago Med. We have decided that you would be the best fit to work as a part of our ER staff. You will start tomorrow if that's okay because we are in desperate need of more hands in the ER, but I would like it if you arrived before shift starts so you could fill out a couple of pages of paperwork," Sharon explained.

A huge grin took over Emily's face as she received the news, "Thank you so much! I really appreciate this opportunity."

"We are excited to have you join the staff. I'll be seeing you tomorrow morning then, Dr. Nelson. Have a good rest of your day."

"Thank you, and you too!"
