Golden Days is based off the popular 100 Themes Challenge originally from DeviantArt. Each theme will explore different genres and features either a single character, two characters, or pairings/groups. The secondary characters (Ushio, Mikage, Carly, etc.) will also be focused on, whether individually or in pairs/groups. The themes will be in order so there won't be any unnecessary confusion.

I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's nor do I own the idea of the 100 Themes Challenge.

"Happy trails to you, until we meet again."
Dale Evans

"Let's go, everyone! This is our last run!"

All six members of Team 5D's speed down the highway where they would last experience the same scenery together. The earliest rays of light are just peeking above the horizon, spilling soft pastel colours for miles around. Despite the thick clouds lingering in the sky, it marks the birth of the most beautiful day in a long time.

This sunrise is also where they would breathe the same air together.

Jack is the first to break the silence, his voice roaring with the wind. "I swear to return as the true King!"

"Kids, watch me!" Crow responds just as loudly, determined grey eyes set on the road in front of him.

Rua and Ruka take the time to look back, their golden eyes gleaming.

"Thank you, Neo Domino City!"

"Our home city!"

Aki keeps her eyes fixated on the runner in front through her visor. I won't say goodbye, she tells herself. Not until we meet again!

The wind encircling them suddenly speeds up, causing everyone to look up and witness a flaming river of red slithering through the air.

At last, the Crimson Dragon is coming to fulfill the last of their dreams.

"Look! The marks!" exclaim Rua.

"They're leaving!" continued his sister. They are right for it is only seconds later that the Signers see their birthmarks dissipate with the dragon.

"Crimson Dragon, you completed your mission." Yusei says as he watches their saviour fly off for the last time.

From this point on, they are free.

The leader of the team forces his D-Wheel to a stop and raises his arm high above him. All five of his friends – the same ones who shed tears with him, who comforted him when he was suffering, who were always with him even when the world threatened to break into two (again) – high-fives him once last time. Perhaps it is for good luck, perhaps it is for a job well done.

Or perhaps it is..?

He watches as they all break off into different directions. Even from this distance, he can see their smiles despite them not looking back. Even the corners of Yusei's lips slowly curl up as his hands grips onto the handles of his D-Wheel. His friends are departing before his eyes yet he doesn't feel sorrow. Not even in the slightest.

Instead, a small but overwhelming emotion soars through his body as he slams onto the pedal and skyrockets towards the golden monument of unity.

"Riding Acceleration!"

He was wrong. It's not their last run.
