He's sure he's never seen the young avenger like this, sleeping with his barriers so far down. He never noticed it, but he looks younger than his first glance. Almost child-like even. It crossed his mind that he should leave before the boy woke up, but he didn't care. If he leaned in close enough, he could hear the soft breathing- was that snoring?- from Sasuke.
How soft his expression was! As if his dreams were sending him to places where his past never happened and he was happy once more. He grew sad at the fact that when the boy woke up, his world would contrast from the dreams he slept through so peacefully.
He wished he could touch the sleeping boy on his bed. But he knew Sasuke was a light sleeper; it was a miracle he hadn't woken up because of him already. For now, he'd have to deal with staring. Staring to his heart's content.
He had to leave soon, work called to him even in these early hours of dawn. If he didn't leave before the sun's light crawled its way through the window, Sasuke would wake up to someone staring intently at him. If only he could stay and stare fora little longer. But alas, he could already see that Sasuke was waking up; his eyes had stopped moving and the snoring had ceased, replaced with the lightest of breaths possible.
Going as quietly as he could from his place by the bed, he kept his eye on Sasuke in case he woke up prematurely. Edging his way to the door, he got through the doorway before quietly closing it shut. What he failed to remember was the click as the door shut.
All of his efforts at being quiet were wasted then as Sasuke opened his eyes. He didn't move for a second; he was attempting to wake up through the haze covering his eyes. It was a terrible excuse for a ninja like him, but he didn't care. After blinking a couple times, he gave a smirk and sat up to look at the door.
"Stupid fool. I could hear you."
