Part of a 'verse I've just started, in which Cas is human and learns all about life. They all end in -ap, by the way. This is Sap, and I've already posted Snap. I've writted Zap but have yet to post it :)

"It's bleeding, Dean. We must help it." Castiel was clearly distressed.
"Cas, it's a tree. That's sap."
"Oh." He paused. "What is 'sap'?"
"It's like ... tree juice."
"Oh."
Two weeks later, Dean had forgotten the brief exchange and was tracking down a werewolf when he and Sammy came across the ex-angel, his arms wrapped around a tree, licking its bark.
"Who, get a room Cas!" Dean exclaimed, grinning wildly.
Castiel's brow furrowed and he was about to reply when Sam asked, "Cas, why are you licking a tree?"
Csatiel's eyes moved slowly to the younger hunter. "I was drinking the sap."
Sam laughed. "Any particular reason, or were you just bored?"
"I was thirsty. I wondered what tree juice tasted like."
At that, Castiel wandered away, and Dean recalled their conversation with a grin. Sam, on the other hand, looked utterly confused, but didn't dwell on it. After all, they had a werewolf to hunt.
