Suwadika, guys! RainbowLilzz here and thanks for clicking on my story! I wrote this after I had an argument about my own counselling.
Just a little background: This is set after the ToA series and they're in Nico and Will's apartment and Will and Frank have gone out.
Stay Strong and Enjoy!
"At least you didn't die!" Hazel exclaimed.
"You knew what was happening. I skipped sixty years in the blink of a eye!" Nico yelled at her.
"You're in denial, Nico! You're never open to your emotions! You're a closed-up fag! I hate you!" Hazel screamed.
"Your counselling clearly isn't helping, Hazel!" Nico shouted.
Hazel froze. "I hate my counselling."
Nico's hand stopped in the air, halfway through bringing it down to slap his sister across the cheek. "What?"
"I hate my counselling," she repeated.
"Why? Is she mean to you?" he asked, making huge actions with his hands. "Does she say horrid things about you? I'll… I'll…"
"Nothing like that." She bit her lip. "I just… She had these stupid cards."
Nico sat her down on the sofa, placing a hand on hers. "Yes?"
"They have this puffy white character on it. Some are it on fire, happy, with a huge heart-shaped hole through his chest, and it falling down a hall. I… You know I have a way with words?"
"Yes, you want to be a published author!" he encouraged.
She shook her head. "So, I'm perfectly capable of describing my emotions. But, if I'm describing an event, she asks me 'how I felt'. While I'm thinking up a colourful way to describe it to perfectly fit my liking, she apparently gets impatient. If I take a second too long to respond, she gets out the stupid cards and asks me to pick one that describes my emotion."
"Oh, Hazel!" Nico exclaimed. "You should've said!"
"Yes, but… I never actually understood why I hated those cards so much until now. It never… clicked until now."
Nico nodded, allowing her to continue. She took a few hiccupping breaths. "I'm so… logical, I don't see someone gripping onto the edge of sanity, I see someone falling down a hole, or I see Percy and Annie hanging onto the ledge above Tartarus. I don't see someone heartbroken, I see someone with a heart-shaped home through their chest. I don't see someone that's angry, I see someone that's on fire."
Nico crushed her in a hug. "Oh, Hazel!"
She curled her pyjama-clad body around her brother. "I love you."
"I love you too, Hazel."
She just sobbed. "Oh, Nico!"
He stroked her hair. "We shouldn't have to get angry before we can have a heartfelt conversation."
"I know, but it's hard."
Nico pulled Hazel into his bed. "Shh, it's alright, Hazel."
She nodded. "Thank you, Neeks."
"No problem, Haze. If something like this comes up again, come and find me and we can talk, okay?"
She buried her face into his chest. "Ok… Ok…"
"I'll tell her. I promise."
She bit her lip. "No… No… I want to stop it! I don't want it anymore!"
Nico hugged her tighter. He had only requested it because she had several emotion breakdowns, but who could blame her? She had been in so many battles and seen so many things not meant for young eyes. "Oh, Hazel, of course! I'll do it first thing tomorrow."
"First thing for you is one in the afternoon," she giggled.
He rolled his eyes. "Very funny, Haze. Now, go to sleep, alright. I'll keep the bad dreams away.
Son and daughter, sixteen and fourteen, boy and girl, gay and straight, sibling and sibling, they were safe together.
I cried while writing this, I hope nobody cried while reading this. Anyway, thanks for reading this remix of the dictionary and goodbye!
