You wake up, shivering, as the cold winter air nips at your skin through your blankets. You glance over at the alarm clock, it reads 3:20 Am. You groan and turn over in bed to stare at the wall.
After a few minutes you see no sleep in your future. You sigh and throw the covers back. Maybe a nice night time walk would help you fall back asleep?
You creep past Steven's bed not wanting to wake him. Taking a glance back you see the human gem boy snuggle up to the large, pink, lion sleeping next to him. You continue down the stairs looking at the pictures hanging on the wall.
"It's been one hell of a year". You think, looking back on all your past adventures with the crystal gems.
It had already been a full year since you stumbled across the temple, and meet the crystal gems, Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, and Steven. After learning, through Steven, of the gems attempts to protect the Earth you joined the team, despite being just a simple human. It had been a few months learning how to fight, but it sure pays off in battle.
You grasped the handle of the screen door, and look up at the large painting of Rose Quartz. You can't help but wonder what the gems have been through. You pull the door open and embrace the cold of the night. You shove your hands into your hoodie pockets and stalk out onto the porch.
"Heads up!"
You turn your head just in time to be hit in the face by a snowball.
"Amethyst!" You huff, Shaking snow out of your short, dark, hair.
"Hey I said heads up". The small gem shrugs walking over.
"Why are you up so late?" You question, tossing aside some left over snow.
"Why are you up so late". She questions back, throwing another snowball.
You jump out of the way and land on the porch railing.
"You better stop that or-"
"Or what?" Amethyst challenged with a cat like grin.
"Or this!" You yell jumping up from the railing, sending a shower of loose snow onto the purple girl below.
"Hey!".
Amethyst peered through the thinning cloud at the seemingly empty night. She looked in every direction but couldn't see you anywhere. Her eyes widened as she looked up. You sat perched on the roof of the house, holding a particularly large snowball.
"I dare you". She growls playfully, pulling a long whip from her chest.
"Battle cry!" You roar jumping from the roof, throwing the large snowball in front of you.
Amethyst whips the large snowball in two. A shower of ice crystals rain down as you land on the startled gem.
"I warned you". You laugh rolling off the small purple girl.
"I'm just glad we didn't hit any birds". Amethyst joked reminding you of the nights you two spent together playing Until Dawn, and laughing at all the jump scares.
"What do you want to do now?" You ask sitting up.
Amethyst wraps her hand around your slender arm. You look back into her large purple eyes.
"Lets just stay here".
You lean back into the snow as Amethyst locks in fingers in with yours. You face heats up as she gives you a peak on the cheek. You could have spent all night curled up in the snow with this gem.
The sound of a loud roar pulls you out of your thoughts.
"Uh oh. Time to move out!" Amethyst yelled, leaping up.
She runs off towards the house to alert the others. You sit up and watch her go. For all the hardships of the past year there had been good times, like these rare moments with Amethyst. You smile and race after her.
