She giggles as he topples onto the bed with her cradled in his arms. The air is charged with electricity as his hands slide down her sides, slipping his fingers under the waistband of her jeans.
"Are you sure we should be doing this?" she gasps as his lips touch the bare skin of her collar-bone.
"You don't even know what my favorite color is."
"Blue," he guesses and she laughs wickedly at his improbable luck.
"How many cats I have?"
"Two," he murmurs against the skin of her stomach, having guessed correctly again. His tone holds finality but she isn't giving up yet.
"Anyone can make a lucky guess," she whispers raggedly as he gently nibbles the lobe of her ear. "I'm trying to save you. Tomorrow you'll wake up and walk out of that door wondering how you could have ever gotten into this mess."
"There are some people who just refuse to be saved," he whispers, "and I'm one of those people.
The speed of his bites and kisses increase. He moves his mouth to her and feels the brush of her lips as her mouth forms silent words. His hands trace the curves of her body. She arches her back giving him easier access to the closure of her bra.
"You're sure about this?" she asks, the threads of doubt coming undone.
"I don't think I've ever been surer of anything."
She feels the spread of his lips as he smiles against her neck.
The next morning, Hermione knows he's gone before her eyes are even open. She knows because when she reaches her hand out to find his she feels only the cool of bed sheets, no gentle return of pressure from a hand wrapped around her own. She sighs buts gets up slowly to get ready for work.
She makes it to work and has already knocked over a stack of bestsellers at the book store she owns and has spilled two coffees down her apron before he arrives. His white blonde hair glistens in the sunlight and she can still see the small mark on his lip where she had bitten it last night.
"Draco," she greets him slowly, her eyes never leaving his silver gaze.
He flashes a genuine smile at her and says, "I'll take a coffee and a kiss."
