Kim Possible – And the Bad News is…
By SHADO Commander
Kim Possible's entire body froze at the doorway to her room, the shock of her surprise literally canceling all the inertia she'd built up in her headlong dash up the stairs. It took just a second for her conscious mind to catch up with her instinctual reflexes, to realize WHY she had stopped so suddenly.
"Why is my mother sitting on my bed?" She thought.
For indeed, Dr. Anne Possible WAS sitting on the edge of Kim's bed, one eyebrow raised in a curious fashion.
"What have we said about you running up the stairs, dear?"
"Huh?" Kim returned brilliantly, her slack jaw belying the genius level IQ she'd inherited from her parents. What the hell? No one had mentioned that in… years.
More importantly, why was her mom up here? By mutual accord, her room was supposed to be her personal and exclusive territory, her sole island of privacy in the entire house.
"Uh…" Kim continued in a tone as inspired and incisive and her first "Huh" had been delivered in. "What are you doing up here, Mom?"
With an odd half smile/half sigh, Dr. Possible's response was to simply pat the bed beside her. Realizing she wasn't going to hear another word until she sat, Kim warily stalked over to her mother and lowered herself hesitantly to the designated landing area.
For a long, pregnant moment, Kim's emerald green eyes avoided her mother's piercing blue gaze, but finally she could resist no longer. "What's wrong? What isn't she telling me?"
And that's when she realized that her MOTHER was biting her own lower lip in the exact same manner that Kim herself was. Unable to take the nervous silence any longer, Kim felt the words explode from her lips:
"WHAT'S WRONG MOM?"
And that charge broke the dam that had been holding Dr. Possible back.
"Well, dear," she began with an uncharacteristic tremor. "I have good news and bad news."
Kim's eyebrows had already been raised in alarm. Now they threatened to disappear into her hairline.
"The GOOD news," Dr. Possible clarified carefully, "Is that I caught your brothers in your room earlier. They DIDN'T get into your diary."
"And… and the bad news?" Kim prompted, no longer sure she really wanted to know.
"Um, yes," Anne replied, reaching behind her back for the small bag that Kim hadn't previously noticed. "I'm afraid they DID find this."
"Oh God." The blood flushed to Kim's face so quickly that she actually felt dizzy. She really didn't need to see the contents of the bag as they spilled out onto the bedspread to know what the damnable Tweebs had uncovered. She was quite intimately familiar with all of them. Intimately intimately.
An almost empty tube of Vagi-lube.
A well-worn copy of NUDE LADY BODYBUILDER magazine.
And her dad's old, battered and VERY green sunglasses.
"I don't suppose…" Dr. Possible half-smiled with an almost matching full body blush. "That there's something that you'd like to talk to me about, is there Kimberly dear?"
Somehow, Kim knew this was going to be an EXCEEDINGLY long conversation.
