Burning

Buildings smouldered, left in ruins, a constant reminder of the blow dealt to this once beautiful and vibrant city. Cries filled the air as family found their loved ones amongst the ruins. In the middle of the chaos stood a single figure, his battered and bruised appearance matched the damage of the land surrounding him.

"Why don't you just give in" a voice sounded as another figure walked through the smoke filled streets.

A scoff was heard "Neither me nor my people are going to ever give up or allow our spirits to be crushed" he turned to face the newcomer.

"Arthur how much more can you take?" he looked purposely at Arthur's appearance "How much more can these people take?" he gestured to the blood and dirt stained people who were trying to find their families.

"I will continue to fight and resist for as long as it takes" a crash of thunder announced the arrival of rain "so my people can have a bright future." He looked up at the blackened sky, allowing the rain to hit his face.

Suddenly the sounds of sirens broke through the moment of silence causing panic to fill the streets as the looming threat drew closer. Arthur's face tensed as he prepared for the next attack.
