A/N: Just a small tagish fic for 5x17, but I suppose it doesn't really fit the complete episode. It's just... Jane and Lisbon were standing so unbelievably close in 99% of their scenes and it just made my fingers itch to write one of my 'established-Jisbon' fics I do sometimes... in which they're having a secret relationship, duh.
But just spoilers for 5x17, but not really a tag.

'Much too close'
Teresa Lisbon hated this. She wanted to be close to him, but she also wanted to put two continents between them because she didn't trust herself.
They had gotten much too close. Ever since they had started sleeping together. There used to fit three people between them when they were talking - but the only thing that was left wasn't even a complete human now.
Not that anyone knew about their relationship – or so she hoped.
He let her do unspeakable things that day. She'd sung for God's sake! She never did that. She didn't even want to think of the rest of the list of things he made her do.
She felt a hand on the small of her back, and even without turning around she recognized it.
"I'll see you tonight," Jane whispered in her ear, his voice husky, and she smiled an involuntarily smile. "I wouldn't smile like that, love. People will find out."
She turned around, their faces inches apart. "Well, what if I want people to find out?"
She brushed her lips against his, barely touching them, just softly grazing.
"How did it go with Pete's memory palace?"
He didn't respond, just stared into her eyes.
"God, you're beautiful," he breathed, then out of the blue pushed her away and went to make some tea. She stared after him but then noticed Rigsby's curious eyes on her.
"Hey Boss, what's wrong?"
She shook her head. "Nothing, Rigsby."
And so she and Jane continued pretending they weren't sleeping together. Like they didn't have a life together, even if it was just outside work.
A/N: So... well... okay... Yeah, I loved Pete, btw. He was adorable and cute and sweet and handsome and awesome and ugh. So. I want him to come back in a later episode but he probably won't. Now I'm sad.
