Impossible

Tell them I was happy / and my heart is broken / All my scars are open / Tell them what I hoped would be

/Impossible/

She always believed that she was safe. She played her cards right, had no need for a guy, and didn't really want one. She was pretty, could take care of herself, made other people jealous; if there was one thing she could trust, it was her heart.

And then he came around.

Things changed. She forgot what people told her, about not wearing your heart on a sleeve, about not letting them know they could hurt you.

But she fell in love with him. And that was the first mistake. Because loving someone is giving them the power to hurt you.

It's also trusting that they won't.

She believed in him. She had always felt alone in the world, but with him, it wasn't like that. With him, it was different. She let him touch her, let him hold her; let him see that she wasn't what she wanted to be. Let him see that she had weaknesses. Let him know that he could break her.

She loved that boy. And he loved her too.

But she trusted him a lot. More than she should have. Because she may have loved him, but he didn't care anymore. He took her heart and her stupid trust and spit on it.

And he made her cry. He smiled when she cried, as though he liked the thought of her being hurt. Maybe it was thrilling. Seeing someone who was supposed to be so strong, watching them cry. Because she had thought she was safe.

He proved her wrong.

She forgot what people told her, but she never fails to remember anymore. Because things change. The impossible happens.

Even the strongest and most beautiful of people can end up with a broken heart.

A/N: God, am I really that UPSET?

Nah, I just like writing this angst stuff. Some people are like 'Well, I'm over their break-up', and yeah, I kind of am too, but writing for it really helps soothe the soul, and it's fun to write. :)
