I do not own Inuyasha

What was she to him? She never asked, he never told her.

The night he took her as his, he did it in silence. There were no words, no promises, nothing. But she could see in his eyes that it was more than lust alone and she was satisfice with that. She had chosen to come back to him and was willing to take any role he gave her.

Their relationship carried on. No one dared to ask who she was to him, but gossips stirred.

Was she his mistress, his lover, or his wife? What was she to him?

No one knew. But she was always by his side and he never let anyone disrespected her.

There was no name in their relationship, no title, but she was contented. She was happy.

Then they had their first child, their son. She saw something in his eyes the moment he held him, pride.

Their lives continued in that fashion. They had one child after another.

He never uttered sweet words. Not that she wanted him to since it wasn't in his nature. But one night she asked him, "What am I to you?"

Not because she wanted title, frame, or to be acknowledged by others. He wanted her with him, did not reject her humanity, and that was more than enough to her. She just wanted to know.

His laid there in silence beside her for a long moment. It didn't matter if he never told her, or if there was no name in their relationship. She was with him and was happy, and that was all the matter.

She was about to tell him that he did not have to tell her since he had been silence for a very long time. But he surprised her.

"My life."

His answer was greater than any title he could have ever given to her. More than she could ever dream to ask for. Her heart leap and felt like it was about to burst from happiness. She flung herself into his chest.

"And so are you."
