A boy can dream, right? A young troll with indigo blood can have fantasies besides the urge to kill, can't he? He'd like to think so. And he always had the same dream, a dream he never let escape his think pan. The dream he's been having ever since he was a wriggler.
The dream of the Dark Carnival.
Oh, and what a fantastic dream it was! With shimmering lights attracting all who came, entering the main tent with glee spread across their faces. He would then peek through the tent flap, watching all of his friends come, all smiling. Tavbro? Kanaya? Karkat? His smile widened, and when his act came by, he danced around with childish laughter, his friends admiring him and shouting words of encouragement.
The dream always went wrong there.
He would spin so fast and time would pass oh so quickly. He would stop, because he was dizzy. He would then see that there was nothing left of the tent but brown, ripped tent walls and rusted poles, the ceiling completely gone. The stands were now filled with rotting corpses, their expressions of glees still plastered on those who still had flesh. He would scream, wondering what happened to his precious carnival.
"NO! NOOOOO! WHERE IS EVERYONE? OH MESSIAHS….SOMEBODY HELP!"
His screams would fall upon empty ears, and he would keep screaming until he woke up.
And the Carnival would cease to exist until the next slumber.
Gamzee skipped along the rows of decapitated heads, his grin growing larger at each one he passed. The mustard yellow of a Bi-polar Mage. The cerulean of a manipulative Thief. The jade green of a motherly Sylph. His laughter echoed off the metal walls of the Veil, almost as though there were others laughing with him. He picked up one head off of the Table, holding it close to his chest and spinning around.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! DON'T YOU GET IT BEST FRIEND? My dream finally makes motherfucking sense! THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN ALL ALONG!"
He continued to spin, holding Karkat's head close. Was this supposed to happen? Was blood supposed to be spilled by his hand?
Was the Dark Carnival finally coming to life?
A boy can dream.
