Snow White

Skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony, placed in a glass coffin, preserving her beauty for ever after...

It was only in fairytales that love and beauty could be eternal; that people could defy death, but this wasn't a fairytale. It was reality. Sure, Naruto knew that as well as the next sane person, that corpses in morgues could never recover. He really did.

Stealing another glance at the body, he took it in. Skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony, maybe now, though it'll fade next week.

Yet that was the true beauty of it all.

Within a week the perfect body before him would transform, discarding its image, and taking up one that could have never been achieved in life.

Caressing the unresponsive cheek, he took it in. In a week, the sun-shunned skin would lose its light complexion, replacing it with a cold, bluish tinge. His soft red lips, bruised during life, would be a distinctive purple. His dark hair would no longer be combed to its constricting peak, but splayed out naturally, in its wild rebellion.

Leaning closer, Naruto kissed him. Nothing.

Sniffing the air around him, he noted the light, musky smell, intermingled with the stench of others. In a week, it will be gone, leaving only the smell of him, the smell of his unique fragrance and of his decomposing body.

Skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony, The picture wouldn't last. Moving away from the body, Naruto went to the door.

"I won't leave you Sasuke. I promise."
