Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter
Author's Note: A request from Kerri. Let's just say that Colin survived the battle, shall we?
Colin Creevey grinned, lifting his camera lens to his eye. Through his lens he could see Cho Chang, a pretty exotic looking girl. Cho turned around, smiling at the young boy. He was two years younger than her, but she appreciated his company. She slowly detangled herself from her large group of friends, walking towards Colin. Cho flashed him a winning smile as the shutter clicked. She laughed, and Colin soon joined her. He raised his camera again, but Cho smiled lightly, pushing the camera down. She gestured towards the Three Broomsticks; Colin happily took her arm and entered the pub.
"How've you been?" Cho asked, sipping her butterbeer. "So much has changed after the battle."
Colin nodded solemnly, though not wanting to think of that night. He shuddered, though it went unnoticed by Cho.
"I've been okay," he answered finally. "You?"
Cho shook her head, avoiding the question. She dropped her head down, letting her black hair cover her face. She had always been an emotional girl, and the battle had traumatized her. The thought of so many that she had grown up with dying, had paralysed her with fear, though she managed to fight along side many of her friends. A stray tear slipped down Cho's cheek, and she wiped it away quickly.
"Good," Cho muttered, lifting her head. "I hear you're with Luna, these days?"
Colin shook his head quickly. Who had told her that? He wondered. Luna and him were good friends, and had kept in touch, owling each other every week or so. In truth, he hadn't actually seen for a long time though. He watched her face, wondering whether she would believe him. He so badly wanted her to believe him. But who was he kidding? Even she did believe him, it wouldn't matter. Cho was two years older than him, and gorgeous. It was no secret that many guys wouldn't have minded being seen, let alone dating, Cho Chang.
"Nope," he confirmed. The two stayed in silence for a while, both sipping at their butterbeers. Is she dating someone? Colin wondered. He silently prayed that she wasn't. He wouldn't have been surprised if she was. He thought back of the few moments they had before the battle. When Colin had screamed that he loved her, moments after the dreadful green sparks began shooting from numerous people's wands. She had turned to him briefly, before smiling and returning the words. Of course, he hadn't seen her for many weeks after the battle. Colin shrugged the memory away, she had probably forgotten about that.
"Colin," Cho's voice brought Colin back into reality. "Do you remember what you said just before the battle?" She sounded nervous.
"Yes,' Colin whispered. What was she going to say? Probably something along the lines of I didn't mean it, I'm sorry, I was just scared.
"I… I…" she began fiddling with her hands. She lowered her voice before continuing. "I meant it, you know."
"So did I," Colin murmured. Cho gulped, taking in his three words slowly.
"So…"
"Did you want to go out or something?" Colin asked hesitantly. It seemed like the next obvious thing to say, but he wasn't sure. Cho grinned up at, nodding enthusiastically. The two meet each other's eyes, and for the first time in a long time, each of their smiles reached their eyes.
