A/N: Hello, everyone! Yes, I am alive and healthy! This is a fanfic based on new favorite couple, Maryse Lightwood and Robert Lightwood. I want to remind everyone that because of them, their children are who they are instead of spoiled brats. Hope you like it.
She knew she should trust him. She shouldn't doubt him. She did, after all, love him. But she couldn't help it. If he had done it once, he would do it twice. She still remembered the first time, and she could feel her heart ripping into pieces.
Robert opened their bedroom door as quietly as he could, but his wife was awake. Maryse sat on the bed, in her black shirt and grey PJ pants, her hair in a black bun, her hands on the bed beside her. He fun lips were turned into a frown, and her eyes, half closed from missed sleep, were looking at him. Robert closed his eyes and sighed.
"You should go to sleep. I was just getting a glass of water," was all he said as he stepped closer.
"In your hunting clothes? And all night?" Maryse's voice was cold. She got up from the bed and came closer. Robert leaned in to kiss her, but she moved to his neck. He thought that she was feeling like it but changed his mind when she moved away in disgust." You smell like a woman, but I can't think of who. Who was she?"
There was no point in hiding it anymore. he told her. Robert Lightwood told his wife of his affair and of his plan to leave her. Not his lover, no, but Maryse. When he was done, Maryse sat down. She closed her eyes and shook her head, tears hanging on her lashes.
"And I thought my marriage would be a fairy tale."
The next day, they learned Maryse was pregnant again. Now, in a dark street, she regretted staying. She regretted staying with him and loving him. She saw Robert turn around a corner and enter a house. She followed him, not letting him see her. Inside she saw a middle aged blonde Shadowhunter woman with brown eyes welcoming Robert with a kiss. A kiss Robert returned. She could hear the other woman asking when he was going to divorce his wife.
"Just a little bit more, 'til the kids warm up to the idea" was his answer.
"Don't you think we should wait? I feel kind of guilty." He laughed at that.
"She deserves. I am stuck here like this because of her." His words ripped her heart apart.
She deserves it.
Maryse left, leaving her husband his new lover alone.
