The scenes were grainy, and gave him the greatest pleasure of nostalgia. His life was playing out like a black and white movie. Was this really what he thought of her?

Where dirt filled the edges and fissures, she danced.

Her shadow moved silently over the pavement, gliding endlessly into a wide open space.

The darkness was overwhelming; however, this didn't deter her.

I clawed aimlessly in the midst of confusion, as I began my approach.

She must have noticed, as she quickened her pace.

I attempted to reach out for her fingertips.

I felt them slip out of my grasp.

The immediate reaction had brought me to a halt.

I inspected my hand carefully to check for any mark she had left behind.

Had it been my imagination?

A plunge into the darkness had left me in the center of her delusion.

She continued to move swiftly.

Her drifting had become a frantic scurrying.

I wondered if there was still a chance. A few steps distanced us, as well as the chaos of time.

My chances had since dispersed upon seeing her, which is why I gradually lifted my hand, guiding it towards hers.

She glanced from my hand to my face.

Her motions were slow, like feeble fingers breathing life into a marionette.

Her expression remained a mystery to me.

That night, there were two strangers holding hands in a dark cobbled stone street.

Disclaimer: Just borrowing Kartik and Gemma for a bit...
