Once A Wildcat, Always A Wildcat

Jimmie was not his usual self today, and everyone knew why. He would be moving this weekend. His dad had gotten a better paying job with a company based out of Denver. They were moving on Saturday. Jimmie was not happy about this move at all. He had worked hard for the last two and a half years to build a reputation at East High. He had worked so hard to obtain that coveted leadership position on the basketball team, and he was so close to FINALLY impressing Tiara. Not to mention he felt a little guilty for leaving Donnie hanging. Donnie was his oldest and best friend, and Jimmie was just…leaving him behind.

"Hey, man," Donnie said with a sympathetic smile. "Today is not a day to be depressed. You've got to go out with a bang, dude, not with a flop."

Jimmie gave him half of a smile, "I gotta give Troy's locker to somebody today."

Donnie sighed, "Do we HAVE to talk about that?"

"Yes! Dude, it has to be the right person. I can't just give Back-to-Back Bolton's locker to anybody! Whoever ends up with his locker has to be ready to be a leader next semester."

"Why don't you ask Coach Bolton who you think you should pass it on to?" Donnie suggested.

"Good idea, man. Who knows the team better than Coach?"

"Tiara approaching on your six," Donnie whispered urgently as he turned back around in his seat.

Usually Tiara ignored him completely as she passed by his desk in homeroom, but not today. He was shocked when she stopped by his desk. She flashed him one of her rare smiles.

"I'm willing to take you up on that lunch you asked me on last year, but act quickly because this is a onetime offer, Rocketman," She said with a quirked eyebrow.

He smirked, "We're on, babe."

"See you then, and do be on time," She insisted as she continued on her way to her desk.

When she sat down Donnie turned and gave him a high five, "Dude! See, todays NOT going to be totally depressing."

Jimmie nodded, "I guess, I'm just not ready to give up being a Wildcat yet."

"Hey man, you can NEVER give up being a Wildcat," Donnie reassured him. "In the words of the legendary Troy Bolton: Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat."

After the news that Matt Prokop and Jimmie would not be returning I couldn't resist this. Jimmie may not have been my favorite character, but the more I watched HSM3 the more he was beginning to grow on me. He deserved a proper send off. I'll probably right one of these for Tiara and Donnie if they do indeed decide not to use them either.

Enjoy!
