( "I love you, Sasuke-kun."
"…hn."
"I'll take that as an 'I love you too'.")
After years of him being gone, she finally found him.
He's grown.
Her face remained impassive. Her eyes empty.
It's better this way.
His katana remained gripped in his right hand.
He doesn't trust anyone.
He stood on one tree branch.
She stood on another.
There were only twenty feet of forest between them.
It feels like millions.
Far off in the distance, she could hear her teammates fighting.
With his teammates.
Surprisingly, she wasn't the first to speak.
"You're a captain."
Her smile was cruel.
"Things have changed, Sasuke."
His name felt filthy against her tongue.
"I see you have a team of your own."
He smirked.
"Ah."
Her eyes narrowed.
"Always with the one-worded answers."
She shook her head.
"Those things never change."
He remained silent. Staring.
She would never admit how uncomfortable it made her.
Because that would be weak.
His lips parted.
"It's too late to regret letting you go."
She wanted to scream at his words.
"Leaving the village to seek revenge was your choice."
She glared into unrevealing eyes.
And continued saying, "You never had any right to regret."
His eyes flickered down to her quivering lips.
"You won't kill me."
Her laughter was cold; lifeless.
"What makes you so sure?"
He looked back into her greengreen orbs.
"You still love me."
Her heartbeat quickened. She cursed it to hell.
She knew he could hear it.
"Does it matter?"
The grip he had on his katana loosened.
"It does. A lot, actually."
It was suddenly too quiet.
She was sick of the silence around her.
"Enough talking, Sasuke. Let's just get this over with."
He closed his eyes, shook his head once calmly.
"I'm not going to kill you."
Taking a step back, his body half concealed in darkness.
"Damn it Sasuke! Why? Why do you treat me like a weakling?!"
She was screaming; completely vulnerable.
"I can fight you! Don't underestimate me!"
He took another step back. Disappeared from her view.
"As long as I'm alive, you'll keep chasing me, won't you?"
His body felt warm against her back. Too quick.
"You'll keep on loving me, won't you?"
She couldn't move. Only her head turned.
"Won't you, Sakura?"
His whispered words breathed warmth into her neck.
"…I won't stop."
He left her like so many years ago; the same words carried by the wind.
"Thank you."
A/N: So, um, yeah. Don't know what to say about this…Found it a while ago and decided to finish and post it, although I really couldn't come up with an ending that fit this little thing. The latest chapters have really killed the SasuSaku mood, haven't they?
