Out of all of Guren Ichinose's rag-tag team of misfits and one suicidal bastard, Shinya Hiiragi is glad that there is one he can look forward to seeing: Yoichi Saotome, the normal, innocent-filled one. The one that lacks Shinoa's charm (and fake smile), Mistuba's anger (and agonizing regret), Kimizuki's aggressiveness (and heart-shattering secrets), and Yuichiro's….well, Yuu cannot be described.

The boy isn't without his own personal demons (though, Gekkoin is the only one that knows the brunette's favorite color), but he was still normal enough to capture Shinya's attention, normal enough to remind the silverette of what the world used to be and how they were striving to bring it back to that normality.

(Though he knew the world will never be quite the same again. Everyone knew, and that included Yoichi Saotome.)

So, the Major General had taken it upon himself to teach this boy how to use the bow to the best of his abilities, how to make sure to keep little ol' Gekkoin in check (and to make sure he doesn't lose that last bit of hope that shines in those olive-green eyes).

It was not intentional that they bonded so closely, though being such great friends made training more fun and intimate. He couldn't tease him like he teases Guren, but that was fine because Yoichi wasn't like Guren or Kureto or even Shinya himself. He was just Yoichi Saotome, the boy that smiled genuine smiles, despite the cruel memories that once ruined his mind.

It was admirable. And he found himself agreeing with a lot of the things Yoichi would babble about.

Like how viridian is, indeed, a beautiful color. (And how it's – secretly – Shinya's new favorite color.)

Yoichi sat on the floor, legs crossed, watching his friends perform various duties.

"I have a new best friend," he announced, causing everyone to stop their actions.

"And who would that be?" Shinoa asked.

"Shinya," Yoichi replied.

"Shinya?" Yuichiro repeated, a look of annoyance and disgust on his face. "That silver-haired Guren bastard? Why?"

"Because," the brunette said, smiling, "he knows my favorite color."

Ayyy, I figured I would take a break from writing about my Prince Mika and write about two other lovable dorks: Shinya and Yoichi.
