I hesitated, my hand hovering over the door. What if this was the wrong house? Oh, dear God, I hoped not. A little alien froggy thing showing up at someone's door? How many people did that happen to a day? Not many, I'm sure.

What if this was a bad choice? Maybe I shouldn't have come. But where else could I go? I'd run out of money long ago, and the way I was currently living, no, surviving, I should say, was not very healthy. My skin had tightened slightly to show my ribs, due to not eating enough food, and I was always tired from travel.

I huffed softly, tightening my fists. I didn't travel all the way here to just back out. I knocked on the door a couple times and waited.

I'm sure only a few minutes passed, but it felt agonizingly long. It'd been so long since I'd heard stories about this house, about the house. This one fit the description I'd always heard of, but there could always be another house like it. Now, as no one answered, I began to feel insecure. This had to be the house…

I knocked again, harder, and waited. I pleaded quietly to myself, "Please, let this be the house… Please let someone be home…"

There was, again, no reply. It was still a bit early in the day, and I considered that the house owners were gone.

I remembered how my mother had told me of a red tent in the yard where one of the Keronians stayed. I fidgeted, wanting to make sure this was the correct house but knowing I shouldn't be creeping around someone's property.

I heard a soft meow and looked down beside me to see a white little cat. I smiled, crouching down some to pet it, "Hello…"

It walked around me, it's head nuzzling my black skin as it meowed and purred. I hesitated, trying to remember the name my mom had given me of the cat. She'd only mentioned it a few times…

The cat meowed once more and then headed off to the backyard. I dragged my feet with hesitance, following her. I relaxed some, a large grin spreading across my face as I saw a red tent with eyes on it set up in the backyard.

I didn't see anyone around, and looked at the cat, "Do you know if Dororo is here?"

The cat only tilted her head, "Mew?"

"What about Giroro?" I wrung my hands, wondering what I should do if no one is here.

The meowed before turning and running off into the bushes. I sighed, there goes the only living thing I'd seen here so far.

I heard a clicking noise from behind me, "Who are you, why are you back here, and how do you know everyone?"

'Deep. Deep voice.' I turned to look at the person and jumped at of my skin, "What are you doing?!"

The red Keronian I'd heard so much about, with a dark red hat and yellow skull symbol, was currently standing in front of his tent. He held a large, grey gun that went back onto his shoulder. It was also pointed straight at me.

"I asked you a question!" His slanted black eyes bored into my bright green ones.

I took a deep breath, sure freaking out wouldn't help the situation, and tried to seem confident. I stood tall, small, black hands behind my back as I did my best to not seem nervous, "I'm Bananu. I've no rank, as I'm not part of the army, and I'm looking for Dororo."

"How did you know we were here?" Giroro seemed to lower the gun, although it was only slightly.

"I'm… I-I'm related to someone in the army, a lieutenant. I've heard much about the invaders on Pekopon." I watched my words carefully as I spoke this, not wanting to give away too much about myself yet.

Giroro looked me over, taking in my appearance. I couldn't blame him. I was a fairly odd looking Keronian. I was of fair height, but I had black skin, unlike most female Keronians. My stomach and face were a bright, almost sunflower yellow, while most tadpoles like me had white on them. My hat was a similar green to my eyes, though duller, and the flaps pointed inward, framing my face. The top of my hat pointed downward, making my eyes seem narrow, even if they were rounded around the edges. In the middle of my hat was my symbol, a black-filled triangle with two yellow swirls on the top corners.

Yeah, my weird appearance definitely fit with my weird life.

I shifted my foot weight uneasily, "Uhm, do you know where I can find Dororo?"

He stared at me another moment before lowering the gun, "Why so nervous?"

I scoffed slightly, as if he had to ask, "Well, I am talking to someone who was just pointing a gun at me, not to mention that if the other Keronians here know about me they'll probably consider me an enemy and go batshit crazy, when really, I just want to find Dororo." I sighed some, beginning to get tired of this.

Realization first flashed through his eyes, then a hint of curiosity appeared, "He's up on the roof…"

I blinked in slight stupor and looked up to see the sky blue Keronian. How had I not noticed him? "Uhh… Dororo? Can you come down here? I would like to talk with you some…"

He was off the roof and beside me in a second. Of course I hadn't noticed him, he was a ninja. I gave a small, slightly shy smile, "Uhm, walk with me please."

He murmured a soft, "Alright," and we walked off together.

I didn't see the curiosity and familiarity that flashed through Giroro's eyes or know his thoughts as he mused to himself, 'What a mysterious tadpole...'

Sorry this was so short and boring. The chapters will get longer and more interesting within time, I promise. I have lots of things planned out for this story! When I typed the word "Keronian" in on Microsoft Word and the red line automatically appeared, it said maybe I might've meant "Ker Onion." Uh, no… No, Microsoft…. It also didn't know Dororo's name. Guess it forgot who he was. Please review!
