reincarnation. what does it all really mean?
naruto flicks a pen on a finger, oblivious to the blank spaces of paper staring back up at him, pleading to be fulfilled (very much like his dreams, or thoughts.).
what about jiraiya, tsunade, orochimaru?
a long time ago, sarutobi told them to find themselves in other people.
"why."
"so you can understand, so you can fight, so you can die in peace, so you can pass your thoughts on. who knows. i was told the same thing when i was about your age, but it never worked for me." he shrugged. something sarutobi-sensei didn't know. jiraiya was determined to find it.
he found it in namikaze minato.
kakashi, rin, obito?
when he was 12, minato pondered to himself - "godammit, what does he mean find yourself in other people?" he asked tsunade and orochimaru (who was at that time 2 months from being long gone) but they shrugged all the same.
he was often jealous. he asked jiraiya why he was the only 12-year-old genin who didn't have a team. mikoto has a team. chouza has a team. godammit even you have team.
don't use bad words. (to which minato mutters under his breath, you use them all the time.) and shouldn't you be lucky that you get all this special training from me? (to which jiraiya jokingly poses and smiles in a really fatherly way.)
or unlucky. nine years later he is landed with kakashi, rin, obito and why does he think of his old sensei's own battered team and why is he going through nonexistent (and inappropriate for a ninja, or so he's told) feelings of nostalgia?
sakura, naruto, sasuke?
the very first time kakashi lays his eyes on these kids he knew what jiraiya meant. could they live up to it was the only question.
...and now pain, konan, yahiko?
naruto is back several months to when he is listening to pain's story, and the only thing he is thinking of is, sasuke is standing right in front of me.
he feels a bit lost and confused in those hypnotic eyes. how can i save him now? if he's like this, how can i save him now?
(sasuke doesn't feel any regret, but he is apologetic. "sorry. sorry.")
