Razer sat at his desk staring into the swirling, pulsing vortex. The site of it alone made his blood boil and what he was about to do made his stomach turn. He extended his arm tell his hand rested within the vessel. He locked his eyes into a solid glare, "with blood and rage of crimson red, we fill men's souls with darkest dread," the walls began to warp in his mind trying to swallow him pull him into the deepest part of the battery. His eyes darted to the door, no, he had to keep going. "And twist your minds to pain and hate," he gritted his teeth, "we'll burn you all that is your fate!" His heart tightened and he felt the tingling sparks of rage consume him. He flexed his fingers and calmed the rage. He grasped at his heart begging it to still. Razer exhaled lightly and distanced himself from the crimson battery.
"Hey Razer! Get out here we have a distress signal!" Hal yelled across the interceptor. Razer rolled his eyes and stood up the room spinning around him. He grabbed his head stilling it then headed to operations room. As he walked he looked over the damaged ship. The P.A. was broken, the engine was faltering, probably from forcing it to run on red energy, and the shields were completely inoperable. The ship kept getting torn apart and without Aya, he clenched his fist. Well, he just couldn't keep up with the repairs.
"Hal I know you mean well but shouldn't we be focusing on finding Aya? We already wasted time on that toxic planet!" Kilowog said in his usual flat way.
"We're Green Lanterns we help those in need," Hal shrugged with a grin, "it's kinda what we do. Besides we don't even have the slightest idea where Aya went. Right now, at this moment, someone needs our help."
Razer came in and sat down at his post without a word. He turned to face Hal and watched as he, in his usual manner, convinced Kilowog that this would be the best thing to do. After all they really didn't know where Aya had flown off to and perhaps someone would be able to look at the ship and help with repairs.
Aya was gone. It was all his fault. Why had he said that to her? She's a machine you can't love a machine. You just can't. But that didn't change the ache he felt every time her name was mentioned.
"Razer?" Apparently this wasn't the first time Kilowog had said his name as he was beginning to look frustrated. Now there was something that didn't bother him. Razer turned looking at Kilowog with a bored expression. "Let's go!" Kilowog ordered.
The planet they had landed on seemed to be technologically superior to the last world they had visited. Hovering vehicles zipped along glass path ways that seemed to float in the air. The buildings were all like towers taller than the buildings he'd seen on Oa. "Where's the distress signal?" He asked Hal.
"Oh it's here," he paused, "somewhere."
"Somewhere?" Razer raised his brow. Kilowog seemed to share the expression as the two looked at Hal sceptically.
"What was the call even about Hal?" Kilowog questioned his voice almost a growl.
"One of the citizens here said they wanted a Green Lantern's help they were trapped and they couldn't contact anyone else."
"Perfect," Kilowog grumbled.
"That's the spirit!" Hal said with a smile. As much time as Razer had spent with this earth man he could never tell when Hal was serious or not. "It should be just outside this town." Hal checked his ring as if to confirm what he had said was true. You could see Ha; watch as someone would drive by on the hovering devices no doubt Hal wanted nothing more than to try one out. His overwhelming desire to put himself in harm's way was as admirable as it was stupid. Razer shook his head and followed their leader to the edge of town.
