Hello! Here's another edition from the Drabble Tag :). Not much changed here. The prompt was the quote used below.

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon. The Sinnoh region would be a place you could visit in XY otherwise :P.

Cordial Colloquy

"No, I'm not making fun of you. You see, I have to always show people that I'm happy and confident because I'm the leader. But I often get depressed or become worried. Oh, I wanted to ask you, is there some kind of tip that you can give me to stay happy like that?" -Roy to Shanna in their C support.

"You're pretty chipper, considering the world almost ended," remarked Lucian dryly, glancing over his novel. His hands were supporting his head because he was using his psychic power to make the book float in front of him. He had gotten tired of holding up the 800-page book physically.

Cynthia laughed. "But the world didn't end, which is precisely why I'm so happy right now." She continued to hum as she flipped through the pages of an ancient tome. It was a good thing it was just them in the library, or otherwise Cynthia's cheerful noisiness would be irritating the nearest librarian. Then again, she was Champion, so Lucian suspected no one would go out of the way to hush her.

"It was mostly thanks to that random kid though," Lucian added. "We need to be more careful."

Cynthia was still smiling, but she had stopped rocking in her seat. "I never said we shouldn't be more careful. I'm saying that we need to appreciate life more. In a way, we're living on borrowed time. We just have no idea how much time that is..." Her expression sobered, and she quietly stared up into the dusty rafters.

Lucian wanted to smack himself. Cynthia wasn't being careless. She was trying to not being overwhelmed by the gravity of near-disaster. Or, at the very least, she was trying (too hard) not to show it. Lucian sighed and set his novel down.

"Hmm?" said Cynthia, drawn out of her half-trance. "Something wrong?"

Lucian paused. "Nothing. You're doing a great job Cynthia." He stood up, collecting the books he wanted to check out. "Collecting" meant that he levitated all the books of interest. "Just...remember that we of the Elite Four here too. To help out, and all that."

Now Cynthia was the one who was quiet. "I...know what you're trying to say, and...thank you." She too began to gather up her chosen reads.

"I mean that, you know," added Lucian.

"I know you do. Thank you."

"Then what's wrong?"

Cynthia paused. "I...can't show weakness to anyone. Good people lose confidence in me if I do, and bad people see it as an opportunity to attack. Pokemon, especially legendary Pokemon, sense weakness even more keenly than humans. When the other regions hear about the fiasco had happened here..."

"You'll handle it, as you always are able to," Lucian reassured. "As you kindly brought up earlier, the world is still here. You must be doing something right."

Cynthia smirked. "I suppose that's true."

"And you know what else?"

"What?"

Lucian gestured to all the random novels orbiting around him like tiny planets. "I'm psychic. You can't hide any secrets from me anyway. So just be honest."

Cynthia barked out a real laugh this time. "Oh yeah."

IIIIII

I figure even Cynthia has her doubtful/insecure days, especially when the world nearly ended. Hope you enjoyed!
