"You know Kid, it isn't that it is asymmetrical, you're just not seeing the whole picture." Part of him knew this was Maka's way of shutting him up. He knew it was wearing on the team, his obsession with symmetry, but he couldn't shut it off, it just ate away at his mind.

His expression clearly told her that he doubted what she said. So without a second thought she grabbed his hand and dragged him up a little used path, it was well off the track from their normal practice grounds, this hill looked back at the school at an odd angle.

"Look at the school. What do you see?" She asked.

"Only one side of it." He shrugged, it wasn't lost on him what she was doing, of course from here only seeing one third of the building made it look misshapen, but he knew better.

"Yes, but is what you see right now symmetrical?" Her voice held a smirk, one that her eyes couldn't hide, it drove him nuts. She was always so confident, never uneasy around others, like as long as her friends were fine she didn't have a care in the world.

So he scowled, trying for a slight air of impatience.

"No, but I know bett-"

"Of course you do, but if this was your first glance at the school you wouldn't." Her smirk turned into a patented Maka grin

"Instead of judging things at first sight, maybe you should assume the best; just think that somewhere out there, there is an equal and opposite for everything. Perfect balance, maybe in order to find it, we just need to look at the bigger picture."

The bigger picture. It would take Kid several more years to realize that in the 'bigger picture', Maka's sure confident soul balanced his nervous uneasy soul.

AN: This is my first Soul Eater fanfic. The Kid/Maka thing is growing on me, but I think if I write more in this fandom it will be non pair or Kid/OC.
