Eli tore off the rest of the paper. He found himself face to face with a generic box. For some reason, he didn't know where to go from there. He looked up at Clare, and then he looked to his mother. She finished chewing her cake, and lightly scolded her son. "Well, open it!"

Eli looked down at the box again, determined. Adam laughed. "If I had known I would cause this much trouble, I would have put it in a bag." Clare stated.

"It fits in a bag?" Eli asked eagerly. He wanted to guess what it was. It didn't matter that he was going to open it in a few seconds. He felt accomplished when he guessed what his present was going to be, and Adam hadn't really given him a challenge this year.

Eli took a deep breath, and started tearing at the tape. "Good. I've aged a whole year waiting for progress." His mother joked. The tape came off easily, but Eli was met by more tissue paper. He quickly took the paper out of the box, and pulled out-

"It's green."

"Very observant Eli. After dating you for a year, I decided that it was time I introduced you to the other colors in the spectrum. Green is a mixture of two primary colors: yellow and blue. You eyes are green, in case you hadn't noticed, and I figured that you could wear it with black pants and maybe a black vest. Something. If this is a self esteem issue, you don't have to worry. You will look fabulous in this shirt. Besides, you and I both know that when we are standing next to each other no one is looking at you. They are looking at your fabulous girlfriend." Clare ended her speech smiling, but promptly changed moods when Eli wasn't laughing. "I…I could always take it back…if you don't like it."

Rapidly Eli turned to Clare. "I like it. I do. It's just I've never thought of something like this before. It feels so foreign." Eli smiled. "Thanks Blue Eyes."

Eli slammed Morty's door, and met Clare halfway around the hood. He slung his arm around her, and walked up the stairs to Degrassi. "So, do you feel like a new man?"

Eli adjusted his pinstripe vest, and nodded. "Maybe next birthday you can establish another color into my wardrobe." He kissed her cheek, and they headed to English class.

I know. Degrassi has uniforms, but I forgot about that aspect of the show for this fic. It was convenient.
