AN: I know I shopuld be working on Thunderhead but this story has been running through my head for awhile.

ALL THINGS TAMORA NOT MINE! ( all other stuff? hands off!)

THis is just a prologue to the story basically. Just to give you some history and a taste. After this will be more recent stuffages!

Owen pulled his horse in, the exhausted mount sweating profusely. Swinging down from the saddle he offed the reins to a startled stable hand and raced through New Hope's grounds, his face as pale as the snow on the ground.

Racing through the hallway he ground to a halt by the dimly lit doorway. A man, his pale face cast in shadow, leaned against the wall next to it, his wife sobbing quietly on his shoulder. Nealan of Queenscove looked up, eyes vacant and staring. The barely registered his old companions face.

"O-Owen? You, Y-you supposed to be fighting bandits up in Galla."

The new knight smiled painfully, wryly at the sagging friend.

"Yes, well, when a companion calls to you from their deathbed its hardly something you miss." And, quietly he added to himself, muttering under his breathe, "Especially if your in love with said person."

Turning back to the shadowed doorway he remarked, as calmly as he could "How is she?" His head didn't turn to his friend, but he could feel the sadness deepen from his friends tone.

"Not good. Y-you'd better ask Fa- Baird. He-He's in there." Neal curled into a tighter ball and hugged Yuki nearer to him. " But Owen, Owen man, I wouldn't suggest-"

But it was too late for Owen to hear Neal's suggestion. His eyes had accustomed to the dark, and his brighter sight had taken in the frail, white form writhing on the bed.

"Kel. Oh Kel."

Baird tried to walk calmly from the room, but collapsed three steps past the door way, his face resembling a basilisks victim's. Cold, scared and bone white. He turned his head and cringed in pain at the young man's cries from within. Turning to his son, and his tearstained face, the healer shook, drained almost completly.

"She, she's almost gone. Such a wound, on top of the sickness, its more pain than any one should bear. The infection's spread to her throat. She almost can't breathe its...

its almost over." He wiped his blood stained hands across his sweaty brow. " Who knows?"

" His- His Majesty, Her Majesty, His Highness, but they are at a highly important diplomatic function in Scanra, and can't leave. We don't know whether the Lioness knows, or where she is. She stopped her messages to Kel two weeks ago. We sent a courier but... No news." Taking a shaking breathe Neal continued. " Merric is out with Dom and our guards tracking a centaur and spidren conspiracy raid from earlier, and Raoul keeps writing. He- He says if the worst happens he'll bloody well drop the party and come back ' In the Black God's name'" Laughing faintly and sadly he jerked his head back inside. "Tobe's in there, you know that. Hasn't moved since she lost conciousness."

Yuki clasped his hand tighter, her mouth opening as he grasped for the right words. " Her people, they suspect but... only the clerks know how serious everything is. She's only been bed ridden for 4 days. They know she was wounded, but...." Yuki sobbed. "Gods. The war only just ended. The Copper Isles revolution is over, and New Hope is more of a town more than ever now. Everything was supposed to be fine! Everything was supposed to be alright!"

AN:I know its short Its just a taste.
