Headaches

Reid had felt Hotch's eyes on him the entire jet ride home. He knew that neither Hotch nor Rossi believed him back at the house but Reid was still trying to hold desperately to the idea that there was something medically wrong instead of psychologically. And to do this Reid couldn't tell anyone because once you said something out loud it was true and could never be unsaid. Reid knew that Hotch was already suspicious, but that's what happens when your boss is your boyfriend and you randomly, after 3 year, decide to move out for two days with your only excuse being that you want some time alone.

Reid also knew that as long as he got his paperwork done and turned in before most people finished he would probably be safe until after his appointment the next day. So Reid quickly finished his work and waited until Hotch left his office for some reason so he could slip inside and drop off his report.

An hour later found Spencer Reid in his apartment with his sunglasses on while he made eggs and sausage for his dinner. Spencer was so wrapped up in not thinking about his appointment that he was completely startled to hear Aaron's voice say, "Eggs and sausage, my favorite."

Spencer whipped around, egg bits flying off the spoon held in his left hand as his right reached for his gun. "Sorry" Aaron said raising his hands slightly to appear non-threatening. "I knocked but you didn't answer so I decided to come in. I'm worried Spencer. Please talk to me."

Spencer seemed to be struck dumb by Aaron's unexpected appearance. Aaron slowly walked over to the stove to save the eggs before they burned the whole apartment down. Once there he gently removed the spoon from Spencer's hand and cooked another batch of eggs so they both would have enough to eat.

Spencer finally spoke as he climbed atop one of his countertops and took off his sunglasses. "I'm going insane. Soon I'll be joining my mother for daily meals."

Aaron turned so quickly he nearly knocked Spencer off the counter. "No matter what happens I will never put you in a place like that!" Aaron stared straight into Spencer's eyes his voice in low and dangerous sounding. "Now start at the beginning and tell me what this is all about." Aaron guided gently as he quickly dished their dinner and sat next to Spencer on the counter.

Slowly Spencer began to tell Aaron about his headaches and how there was no way around it, he was becoming a schizophrenic. Aaron listened silently as Spencer went through all of the statistics and facts about what happened to children of schizophrenics. As he paused for air Aaron grasped his hand and turned to face him. "No matter what happens I will be there with you. You are a part of this family Spencer, and Jack and I are never going to leave you."

"But I don't want Jack to grow up the way I did. I refuse to subject him to that!" Spencer practically yelled as he jumped off the counter running his hands through his hair.

"Spencer! We don't even know if anything is wrong yet. We are not going to borrow trouble. And no matter how the test results come out, Jack will not have the childhood you did. There is nothing in this world that could ever make me leave you. Now we are going to go home, spend time with our son, and tomorrow we are going to the doctor together." Aaron finished as he slowly led Spencer toward the door.

As Spencer lay in bed that evening with Jack between him and Aaron, he know that Aaron had been right and this was where he belonged. Somehow this would all work out and with Aaron and Jack beside him, Spencer knew that he could face whatever life had in store for him.
