In The Rain
By S. Muffin
(Sasuke and Sakura are around 19-20)
It was one of those rare afternoons in Konoha that consisted of rain, thunder, more rain, lightning, and then even more rain.
Taking this is an opportunity to stay inside and read, Sakura prepared a cup of hot chamomile tea, wrapped herself in a large knitted blanket, and then sat down in her living room with a medical encyclopedia.
As a medic and jounin, Sakura was always very busy with either sick patients or A-rank missions. But, since she had been given the day off and now there was a storm brewing outside, she had a good excuse to stay home in her small house for the rest of the day.
Sakura smiled to herself and drank a small sip of her tea before opening to one of the articles in the large book on her lap, ignoring the dull patter of rain hitting the roof as she began to read.
She was barely able to finish the first sentence when someone knocked on her door.
With an agitated sigh, Sakura put her belongings aside and stood up, walking over to the front door. She took a moment to rewrap the blanket around her shoulders before she turned the knob and opened.
"Yes?" she asked, irritated that she had been interrupted from her relaxed state. If her logic was correct—which it was ninety-nine percent of the time—Naruto would be standing before her, dripping wet, whining that he had been out getting ramen when it suddenly started raining, and that her house was a lot closer than his apartment. With this in mind, she looked up to glare at the person in front of her.
"And just what exactly do you think you're—oh, Sasuke-kun!" Her eyes widened considerably when she realized that the Uchiha was standing in the doorway.
His usually spiked hair was wet and flat and sticking to his face. His clothes were completely drenched with rainwater and he was dripping in various places, causing small puddles to collect at his feet. Sakura met his gaze and saw that he was scowling, undoubtedly annoyed with the situation he was in.
She then proceeded to burst out laughing.
Sasuke sighed, fully aware of his appearance and clearly not in the mood for ridicule of any kind. "Sakura, please."
Sakura covered her mouth with her hand to try and fight the persisting giggles. "You, you look—"
"Are you going to move or are you just going to let me stand here?" he snapped, interrupting her. The thunder rumbled loudly, which seemed to emphasize his ill temper, and Sakura briefly saw a flash of lightning far away in the distance.
Sakura nodded, not trusting herself to speak, and stepped aside so he could walk past her. She knew she'd only start laughing again if she attempted to say anything else.
"This isn't how girls are supposed to treat their boyfriends, you know," he lectured.
She unsuccessfully suppressed a snort. "I know, Sasuke-kun. I'm sorry."
One of my first attempts at SasuSaku.
Hope you all like it :D
