A tall woman, her purple hair curled into a puffy bob, ascended the balcony and faced the crowd gathered in the courtyard.
"As you may be aware, I have disagreed with the previous Apostle on many of her rulings. Take the laguz, for instance. During the Great War, Empress Sanaki exposed the corrupt senators and freed the remaining laguz from slavery. But do they appreciate all she has done for them? No! Her soft-heartedness only leads them to demand more and more. Begnion is a beorc nation, not a laguz nation. It was founded by beorc, it is ruled by beorc, and we must preserve the interests of the beorc!
Even as I speak, there are sub-humans who hide in the alleys, thieves and bandits who steal from honest, hard-working Begnion citizens and terrorize our people. I vow to expand the Holy Guard, so that we can deal with these threats with the necessary force. They have done nothing but prove they will only squander their gift of freedom.
The laguz's beastly nature make them a vengeful species. They cannot let go of the past to see the many privileges that Empress Sanaki has granted them. They will not rest until Gallia annexes Begnion and makes all beorc subservient to them!
I will not let that happen. As the newly crowned Apostle of Begnion, I promise you that I will do all that is in my power to root out these laguz radicals. Together, we will make Begnion the nation that Meshua truly envisioned!"
And the crowd cheered.
"Is that true, Micaiah, what you saw?" Sanaki whispered. "Will those visions really happen?"
"I hope not," Micaiah replied, shaking her head sadly. "Goddesses, I really hope not."
