Real, Too

Nessie had her arms elbow deep in boxed decorations, hair a mess with a single plastic spider hanging from an errant curl.

Edward and Bella were there with her, stringing purple and orange lights along every surface that they could twine them around.

Nessie held up a small hanging ghost, made but of fabric and paint, and scrunched her face together. She looked a bit perplexed as Edward turned towards her, Bella tangling herself in the lights with almost the same look.

"What's wrong, Ness?"

He dropped the strand of plastic lights and walked over to his daughter, leaving his wife scowling as she pulled the lights from around her ankle.

"Vampires are real," she said it as a statement, looking still at the ghost, "Werewolves are real, so what about these?"

"Ghosts?"

"Yeah, ghosts and witches and zombies and things. If we're real, aren't they too?"

Edward and Bella had no words for their daughter.

Because honestly, who was to know?

Author's Note: I really liked this idea when I thought of it. I hope you all do as well. Happy October. Reviews are love. -Delta
