She Who is Shy

Lily Evans was always the shy girl.

She never could talk to guys very easily. She could talk to her bestfriend, Sev, and she could work with guys in class.

But asking guys out? No, no way. She couldn't do that. To her other friends, Brianna Cunningham and Alice Kreat, talking to guys was second nature. They were always trying to convince her to ask this guy she liked out. But she just couldn't.

See, this guy wasn't just any guy. He was the best seeker to ever live, and he played for her house, the house of Gryffindor. He was so cute. His black hair was always flopping in his face in that "Yes, I know I'm goregous, but I'm to cool to care. Why yes, I can give you my autograph. That'll be five galleons." kind of way.

Some girls thought he was conceited, but she thought that he was confident. In a very good way.

Now, this was a big problem at the moment because she was in the same class as him. Charms for 6'th years. She loved Charms, but James Potter sitting in front of you is distracting.

Finally, classes ended. She walked to the Quidditch Pitch, head bent, trying not to blush.

She dropped her bag in the stands, and kicked off to drift around.

A half hour later, she noticed other. Green wearing others. They were walking on to the feild. She could see they were holding the trunk that held the snitch, quaffle, and bluddgers. Without warning, the trunk accidently burst open, and a lone bludger soared towards her. The green clad figures all jumped back. She sped towards the stand, but the bludger gave chase.

Just as she was reaching the stand, the bludger put on a burst of speed, and she and it collided. She fell almost 50 feet before she landed. A familiar face was there in a second afte she landed. Familiar black hair was the last thing she saw before she fell unconscious.

Lily woke up in her dormitory, sore, but in one peice.

She went down to the common room, wincing every few steps. A single figure sat slumped in a armchair in front of the fire.
She guessed it was around midnight from a glance out the window.

Lily walked over to James, and shook his sholder lightly. He stirred, blinked a few times, and stretched. "Evans? Are you OK?"

She nodded. "Yeah. Thanks, James." She blushed a little at her use of his first name. She doubted he noticed in his half asleep state.

"No big deal, Lily." He smiled at her. Maybe he had noticed about the name usage.

He walked towards the stairs leading to the boy's dormitory.

Lily argued with herself in her head. He saved her life! He smiled at her! Maybe he liked her? His hair looked great. . . . She knew smiling at her didn't mean anything, but. . . . And Alice and Brianna had been trying to get her to go on a date with him for ages. Here was her chance! Why not? Oh, God. He was at the stairs. . . .

"Hey, James!"

"Lily?"

She ran over to him. She looked at him, stood up on the tips of her toes, and kissed him. He kissed back. She grinned. He pulled back.

"Lily?"

"Thank you." She smiled at him. He kissed her.
